Through art, reflection, and community spirit, we’ll transform our neighborhood sidewalks into a powerful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This is a family service event that encourages youth and adults alike to learn about the importance of Memorial Day, while expressing gratitude in a creative way. Gather your friends and family, bring your patriotic spirit, and help us color our community with remembrance, honor, and appreciation. Note: Community Service hours will be given out for participation and credit will be based on your effort and the detail of your design. Open to all ages; registration required.

A SLICE OF PRIDE: Family Service Event

Calling all families! Come kick off Pride Month with a celebration of kindness, community, and inclusion at this family-friendly service event. Join us for a fun-filled afternoon featuring a pizza party, music, crafts, and a meaningful food drive to support Pride for Youth’s Food Pantry. Whether you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or a supportive ally, this event is a wonderful opportunity for families to come together, celebrate acceptance, and show kindness to others. This event is open to both residents and non-residents of Franklin Square. Space is limited; Registration required.

KINDNESS KITS 4 KIDS WITH LANEY

Join youth volunteer, Laney as she hosts her first service event with Howie's Heart. Volunteers (ages 10+) will design colorful gift bags and fill them with fun craft supplies and cheerful surprises. Kits will be donated to children at the Mary Brennan Inn, bringing smiles where they’re needed most. Come create, give back, and make a difference—because small acts can make a big impact! (Open to both residents and non-residents of Franklin Square ages 10 & up; Registration required)

THE PEN PAL CONNECTION: A 4 WEEK SERVICE SERIES WITH VALENTINA

Join youth volunteer, Valentina for The Pen Pal Connection and help her fight loneliness while building meaningful connections! Over this 4-week service series, you’ll be paired with a local senior citizen to exchange letters, share stories, and brighten each other’s days—ending with a n exciting and meaningful in-person meet-up. Simple, powerful, and full of heart—your words can make a difference in someone's life. Participants MUST commit to attending all four sessions. If you have questions email howiesheart@gmail.com. Kindness is calling…are you in? We’re so excited to welcome campers back for our 3rd Annual Kindness Camp! Join us for a fun-filled experience where giving back meets creativity, friendship, and unforgettable moments. From hands-on service projects to inspiring activities, every day is all about spreading kindness and making a real impact. Come be part of something special—because together, we can make the world a little brighter. There is no cost to attend and all campers will receive a free Howie's Heart T shirt.

HOWIE'S BIRTHDAY BASH

It's time to PAWty with a purpose! In honor of Howie’s birthday month and “DOGust” (the unofficial birthday of all shelter dogs!), we’re teaming up to support the Nassau County SPCA. Come help assemble goody bags for animals waiting to be adopted, learn more about animal welfare, and enjoy ice cream and crafts for a great cause. It's going to be a paw-some night! Don’t miss it! Bring holiday cheer to life—summer style! Help us “sleigh” the season with kindness by creating holiday ornaments and decorations for children facing life-threatening illnesses. Your creativity will help our Holiday Cheer Bus team deliver joy and brighten this upcoming holiday season for those who need it most. SUMMER SIDEWALK CHALK ART CHALLENGE
