Join us as we support Canine Companions at this year’s tail-wagging Dog-Fest celebration! Howie's Heart will be on hand to run a pup cup station, treating four-legged guests to a delicious dog-friendly treat. It’s a fun-filled day of giving back to an incredible organization that transforms the lives of the disabled with their expertly trained service dogs. Families are encouraged to sign up for a shift and help make tails wag for a great cause! Open to both residents and non-residents of Franklin Square. For families with children ages 10 & up; registration required.

Join us for Digital Doodles for Good, a creative community service event where teens use their artistic talents to make a difference! Participants will design digital coloring pages and heartfelt E-Card templates for Color In Dreams, an organization dedicated to brightening the days of hospital patients and nursing home residents. It's a fun and meaningful way to spread joy through art—one doodle at a time. Teens must bring their own non-school issued device and download the Canva app in advance. Open to both residents and non-residents of Franklin Square. Ages 13 & up; registration required.

Join us for a fun and festive way to give back! As part of The Great Give Back—a statewide initiative that connects library communities with service opportunities—participants will create mini canvas paintings for seniors at the Plattduetsche Senior Living Facility. Paintings will be hand-delivered during the Trick-or-Treat With A Twist event hosted by Howie's Heart, later in the month. Come as you are OR dressed in costume or your favorite Halloween swag to set the mood. Open to both residents & non-residents of Franklin Square. Ages 10 & up; registration required.

Kick off your community service journey by coming to this info session just for teens! Learn about volunteer opportunities for the upcoming school year, meet the team from Howie’s Heart and library staff to find out how to get involved. Pre-register and earn one hour of community service!

Plus—you’ll be the first to hear about NextGen Impact, a teen-led community service club offered through the library that will meet once a month to take on causes you care about—whether it's helping people in our neighborhood or making a difference around the world. It's all about teens coming together to create change, plan cool service projects, and support things that matter.
Bonus: Leadership spots are open—great experience and it looks awesome on college apps!

Join us for an inclusive, Fall celebration where we will give back to our community with a beautification project for Washington Street School. In collaboration with SEPTA of Franklin Square, we have planned this sensory friendly, outdoor event for all elementary school families in the Franklin Square school district. A pizza party will follow. Registration required. All students must be accompanied by an adult, no exceptions.

Join us for a special Family Service event where we will spread the warmth and light of Diwali by creating handmade cards and illuminating colorful glass jars for others. Together, we will learn about Diwali, share its true spirit of compassion and warmth, and celebrate light over darkness while spreading kindness. Open to both residents & non-residents of Franklin Square. For families with children ages 7 & up; registration required.

This Halloween season, we’re flipping the script and bringing the treats to our treasured seniors! Volunteers will hand-deliver beautiful, handmade canvas paintings (previously made by our volunteers) to residents of the Plattduetsche Senior Living Center. Dressed in festive costumes (nothing scary please), we will parade through the facility, sharing smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of love with the residents. We want them to know that they are remembered and celebrated this Halloween season. Both residents & non-residents of Franklin Square are welcome to participate. Open to families of all ages; registration required.

Spread kindness in our community this Halloween! Create a colorful, kindness message for trick-or-treaters on your sidewalk or driveway! Then, take a picture, tag us or email it to us, so we can spread your message with others across social media on Halloween. Note: Community Service hours will be given out for this event and credit will be based on your effort and the detail of your design.

Join us for a special night with Howie's Heart where moms come together to welcome and support young mothers beginning their motherhood journey. Together, we’ll paint beautiful doormats—one to keep and one to gift—write encouraging letters, and gather much-needed baby supplies to help support the mothers living at Momma's House. This is more than just a night out—it’s a chance to connect, give back, and wrap new mothers in a warm, supportive welcome to motherhood. Thank you to Nicole from Sweetly Coco Designs for partnering with us for this special event! Open to both residents and non-residents of Franklin Square. Registration required. Cost: $35 per person. Participants will be sent a link for payment once their registration has been confirmed.
